Chicago- fighting not the musical

Post by CountAlaric »

I will be in Chicago in a few weeks and was just wondering what the fighting there was like. Anyone have a heads up?

Exhilarating and fun....

Or were you looking for an event to go to? Or a practice?

Fighting in Chicago can be INTENSE and VERY challenging - just go to Soldier Field when the Packers are in town -

Oh wait.... you mean SCA.

Greetings,

There are several groups in the Greater Chicagoland area:

Tree-Girt-Sea (Northside of the City of Chicago) - Practices on Sundays (see http://12.100.136.197/tgs/ for details)

Grey Gargoyles (Southside of the City of Chicago) - Practices on Sundays (see http://grey-gargoyles.uchicago.edu/ for details)

Vanished Wood (Northwest suburbs of Chicago) - Practices on Tuesday with Rokkehealden

Rokkehealden (Southwest suburbs of Chicago) - Practices on Tuesday (see http://www.midrealm.org/rokkehealden/ for details).

If you are capable of further travel, there are practices in:

Ravenslake (Far North Suburbs of Chicago)

and

Grey Hope (Northwest Indiana)

Actually, GG and TGS alternate practices. I would be certain to check the site for where they are on a given week.

Actually, looks like this have change a wee bit... This is what I found:

are held by default each Sunday, from 2:30 to 6 PM at Ida Noyes Hall. Note that special combine Ayreton practices are held regularly, so usually one Sunday a month practice is held at Tree-Girt-Sea.

are held 3 times per month. On the second Sunday of the Month, they are hosted by the Grey Gargoyles. On the Third Thursday, they are hosted by Rokkhealdon (7 - 9 PM). On the fourth Sunday, they are hosted by Tree-Girt-Sea. Sunday combined practices normally begin with Dancing from 1:30 to 4 PM, and fighting practice from 2:30 - 6 PM.

>Just to let you know the Ravenslake website is www.ravenslake.com. If you plan on attending a practice, please contact me, the Knight's Marshal. here's my email: gintarasthetaura@hotmail.com.

I'll admit that we don't have the biggest practices in the world. We usually range at minimum 4 to a maximum of 10 (on a good day). But we do have a school all to ourselves with bathrooms, plenty of parking, and both indoor and outdoor facilities. My guess is that if I make a shout out to the shire and surrounding area saying that The King of Caid will be there, we'll probably get a lot more people than normal Image

Our practices are on Sundays and go from 1 to 4/5 pm (depending on whether or not we're inside and other people need to use the school).

We'd be happy to have you up!
