Meet in a Dark Alley

Post by Alcyoneus »

At our April 3 event in Wichita KS, "March of the Rising Sun" (Japanese invasion of Korea), one of the scenarios could be a lot of fun.

There is a covered tunnel at the camp used for a tornado shelter. It is 5' wide, with a 1' bench on each side, The lowest beam is about 5'3", with another 6" space or so of heighth between each of them. The passageway is about 30' long.

It's just a nice, cozy place for a brutal, shieldless melee. When the bodies filing in start filling up the entrance, the light is probably going to reduce. Image It might be a nice place for a torchlight knife fight as well. Image

We may use some electric lights or glowsticks to give enough 'atmosphere'.

It sounds like fun. I would suggest bug bombing it a day prior though to keep all the crawlies in check.

I walked through it Sunday, Shelob wasn't there. Image It is above ground, and heavy railroad timber construction. We can't hurt it. Image

silly question, but if the two groups meet in the dead center (i.e. fifteen feet from the entrences) htf do you plan on marshalling the combat?

A lot of holds to clear out the dead. The only way to put a marshal in the center would be to have him sit on the bench. In armor, don't want to break him. Image

What are marshals? Isn't that from the American West period? Image

That's one thing that us "rebated steel with open-faced helms" people just can't do ...
