Breath & ocular size and spacing for WMA?

Hi,
I am in the process of doing a quick conversion of an SCA helmet to WMA use and was wondering what other people have used for breath and ocular size and spacing?

Currently I am considering 1/4" holes on 3/8" centers in 16g mild steel.

I will not being using the helmet for SCA C&T so it does not have to conform rapier standard nor am I using perf.

Should be fine. 16 ga. might get dented a bit - just pound them out occasionally.
