EARLY period rattan short sword w/ sheath FS

Post by Vitus von Atzinger »

Are you into the Roman thing, the Celtic thing or even the Roman Britain thing? You may like this.

This is a thick and heavy rattan short sword. Can be worn in baldric style or as a belt. Straps are lonnng so it will fit anyone. You will need to add a buckle.

Handle is leather wrapped. Handle was cut from one piece of rattan and treated with epoxy before it was covered so should be fairly strong. Gold-leaf paint was used on the sphere and half-sphere. VERY spiffy.

Overall length of sword is 25".
Blade length is 17".

$145

More views of sword and scabbard. I have been sitting on this for a while, but I can't afford another kit.

That is beautiful! I am trying to finish a roman kit myself, but I would destroy that piece of art in one war...

Your work is great, you really do a lot to make the SCA unique and beautiful!

I could go $100 on this. It is beautiful. Let me know.

First you have to get somebody to make you a rattan sword like that. I am capable of doing it. A full-sized version of this sword w/ sheath...I would need at least $300.

I have another one of these that I can finish before Pennsic but you will have to jump on it NOW.
