Again, I didn't confuse the two and stand by my original statement that I've seen too many in the SCA not doing anything remotely historical.

I read it like you would read "I can do research in politics and anthropology." Your sentence could be taken either way. I simply took the wrong meaning from it

Ah.. yes, I guess it can be read both ways.
And yeah, there's people in the SCA who are just there to party and wear order regalia with their T-shirts.. but that's okay.. it's their money and existance that makes it cheap enough for those of us who DO want to go deeper to do so. And it's no skin off my nose what they do..

I've played in the SCA for a number of years (creating a new group, holding office, events, etc.), then faded out when things got too far away from what the SCA should be. I've recently been back into the fighting part of a local group and working on an armor kit. I'm also a member of a 14th century living history archery troupe.
No worries. We've been arguing this topic and similar ones around here for quite a few years now, and it’s gotten pretty nuanced. Welcome to the AA.
What is your 14th c. living history archery troupe? We’re with La Belle Compagnie – we’re on the East coast mostly, but you might have heard of us. I’m always interested in learning about other 14th c. groups, especially in the Midwest. Where in No. IL are you from? I was born in Freeport.
Do you not know that in the service... one must always choose the lesser of two weevils?

The Order of Saint Sebastian, based out of Champaign/Urbana area. We recreate archers of England from 1330-1360 our specific date set in 1359.
I have the Peel Affinity book from your group, so yes, I've heard of it.
I was born and raised in Princeton, IL. Went to Chicago for college and was there for 6 years (also when I got involved in the SCA). I currently live in Sterling, IL and travel to Rockford for fight practice when I can. The O.S.S. is performing this very weekend actually, at an Olde English Faire in Peoria.
