New From Torvaldr Shovel knee shynbalds

Post by Torvaldr »

New design based on shynbalds and a modified bazuband. So far it seems like they can be worn on their own as full knee protection, though you may have to add something to protect the top of your knee when you bend your leg. I haven't strapped them up yet so I can't say for certain that they cover enough when worn. As with all shynbalds they do not cover the calf or ankles, but will protect the front of your shin from a grass cutter. Made from 2 layers of 10 to 12 ounce veg tan leather and will be hardened in my multistage process. Price will be $200 a pair.

Just looked at this.... got me thinking

Have you ever considered making hardened leather cup hilts? The Viking types would love that, especially with nice art on them...

I have tried a couple of different designs in the past and just never been happy with the results. But I may try again with the new layered leather I have been doing.

I will probably have at least 2 or 3 pairs of these at Pennsic.

It would be light as a feather, and hard as dragon scales.... ;)

I love this idea ...... I'm was going to go to ya for shovel grieves, but I didn't want it to go to the ankle .... I will be placing a order for some of these in the next month or so .... I agree with the idea of baskets out of leather. I would buy 'em

I would love to see these strapped. Torvaldr, I feel like I am stalking you on this forum  Whenever I see you post something, I gotta check it out. Unemployment is sucking the life out of me, or I would be one of your best customers.
