Looking for chainmail sleeves

Post by Edward MacTavish »

Anyone know of a source for chainmail sleeves? I am looking for a set of tubes that I can put under my hauberk to make it look like a full sleeve. Flat ring round rivet.

You could either point or sew it to a foundation garment, or you could have straps connecting them across the chest and back, or you could connect them to a gorget. I'm guessing that pointing/sewing is the most common period method.

For the OP, have you considered getting the sleeves and some loose rings, and attach the sleeves directly to the hauberk, so it doesn't just look like it's long sleeved, but actually is?

I plan on pointing them onto an aketon. The hauberk I have is mostly used for my 14th century kit. That is why I would not attatch the sleeves directly. I can't remember where but I have read abour knights wearing a hauberk over a haubergon. This is the look I am going for.

Pointing them would be the best way. I have these in stock in stainless but can get them in other materials. Let me know.

Cheers!
