As I mentioned in a previous thread, I'm going to make the uppers for my half-legs -- I'm all set with leather but I need to find some stainless splints. I tried contacting Ron Simmons AKA Sir Ronald but I believe his e-mail is on the blink.
Anyone else have any lying around they want to sell or any that you are willing to make?

Well if you're lookin for the typical 1" wide and 1/8" thick splints all you do is go out and buy a length of stainless flat stock. And cut it into pieces. Then rivit em on.
You can cut it up using a hacksaw if you have to.
If you want the curved and complexly shaped ones that are wider and thinner then the above you'll have to have em custom made or make em yourself. Otherwise they won't fit. I do em but I've also got a backlog. Or you can make em yourself without too much difficulty. Lemme know if you want instructions.

Oh that does mean I'm willing to make em. But you will have to wait a bit. If you're interested in that option e-mail me and we'll discuss the details and I'll figure out a rough price. Then you can put your name on my waiting list. Which has no obligation to either you or me. then when I'm about ready to make em I let you know. If you still want em you send money. If you don't want em anymore no hard feelings.

Easy place to find em. You'll likely find em at a hardware store like home depot.
Cheaper and more assured place to find em. Look in your yellow pages (they've got yellow pages in the states right?) look under steel or metal.
Look at the list and check for ads start making phone calls. It's a pretty common thing so it shouldn't be hard at all.
Best way is to pick up the phone book and start making phone calls untill you find what you want at the best price.
Another alternative if you're just using the flatstock method. Go to a small metal fabrication shop. Ask them for a price on the pieces already cut. (they'll spend about 5 mins cutting them). Tell them you're using them for medieval armour and you may save some money. Have all your measurements before you talk to a metal fabricator though. It's just more polite.
