I dont package the shields either, I take a sharpie and put the adresses on em and ship them out. I used to spend 20-30 minutes making the packages for them, and wasting another 2 dollars in a roll of tape but its a waste of time and money.
Take care

Thanks man, I have found that USPS is cheaper for items not packaged and UPS for boxed items... at least from my locale. The good news is they are both close to the house.
While I was gone to the forge, the shield blank was delivered. Just opened it....
If it's not 7075 aluminum I'd be very surprised. Its bombproof ... no wonder you almost broke your shear on it. I wanna know what it took to get the curve in it, because its smooth. Drilled the entire circumference with what looks like 1/2" spacing specificly for a period edge treatment. One edge will need to be evened out, but this can be accomplished in 5 minutes on the belt grinder.
I'm very happy with it and would buy from Gryffinclaw again.

You know, I think the sheet that made that shield was a donation from someone who found it somewhere but couldn't remember.......it was rolled in a hydraulic mandrel and yes, it's a honker.
The ones we originate ourselves are made out of .090 5052 and work just fine. I hope you get long and satisfying use out of the one you got.

adding some more items to clear the garage and help pay for my Battle of Nations armor, I am willing to trade for blackened riveted mail items, and 14th century stainless pieces, steel coat of plates, padded chauces.
I have 3 red stools that assemble with wedges. These are great portable sitting for events and armoring at the field side. I have several extras with a coat of red paint on them. I would like $25.00 plus shipping per stool and I will throw in a few extra wedges.
The next 2 items are a matching set of wedge assembled stools with padded cover that I made for my lady. She prefers the chairs so these never get used. Stained with polyurethane coating. I would like $75.00 for the pair plus shipping.
Two left of these long curved tough aluminum 7075 I think .125 thick, 61 1/2 by 24 inch size. One of these would make at least 2 shields. I will take $90.00 plus shipping. FYI these are large and will like cost a bit more to ship.

This is a brand new pair of black leather hardened and rienforced bauzibons from Thorvalr. I originally traded for these to add to my kit but they do not work for my period. I have straps and buckles that are not installed but will be included with this sale. These items will fit in a flat rate box for about $16.00. I am asking $140.00 for them plus shipping.
This is a matching set of greaves to the bauzibons. They are hardened black leather reinforced and are made for a tall person. These also do not match my kit. I am asking $100.00 plus flat rate shipping of about $16.00. These also have straps and buckles that are not installed.
Set of hardened leather black demi gauntlets to fit small or medium size hands. Slightly used in great shape. One of the palm straps needs to be replaced. Asking $35.00 plus shipping

I have enough of the aluminum to make 5 more heater shields like the one posted below. If you are looking to make a canvas covered shield that will last forever.. or at least till the canvas wears out then this is it. I do not have access to any more of this after it is gone. It is 24 inch wide. I will cut a curved shield for you of less than 32 inch long for $50.00 plus shipping (about $15.00). Greater than 32 inch long will incure an oversize charge to ship (another $15.00) GOOO postal system!!! Help me get rid of this stuff. If you want to cut your own shape then I am willing to cut a chunk off for you as well and simply ship you a rectangle curved blank for the same price.
thanks for looking

I'll take these if they are still for sale. What's shipping to 19803?
Are you in Memphis? I'll be coming thru Memphis soon on my way to Little Rock.
By the way, I authorized against Bearkiller years ago when I first started. Scared the hell out of me!

I may be interested in one if you have any available after the New Year. Would there be a discount if I requested no drilling?

Yes I still have them. Flat rate shipping is about 11.00 dollars.
What are the dimensions and materials on the red breakdown stools (items 16 - 18)? I'll put tentative dibs on all three, depending on the above and what we can agree on for trade to supplement cash. The edges look thin enough in the photos to be plywood, which suits me fine so long as they look period from conversational distance.

Yes the stools are birch plywood and were made for extra seating around the camps. We just made too many of them to need. So we are thinning the herd. The dimensions are 20 length x18 width x11 inch high. Red paint to keep them from rotting.
