A buddy of mine had me make him a gladiator helmet out of mild steel. After thinking about it for a while i started working on it and it went together fast. though i did make 3 sets of cheeks until i was happy with the shape. The thing weighs a good amount but its a 12ga mild steel top and 14ga for the rest with 1/4"round bar welded to the edges. My buddy got a great helmet at a great price and when we blacken it i will post pics also.
I dont have the helmet anymore so no interior shots sorry.
Patternweld-so far it seems i can make anything i set my mind to as long as it isnt a face hehe. (worked on a menpo and hated it,turned out good but it wasnt a full face)
That looks nice Gunther good work. Is that a downward turned large roll around the brim? Or a Triangle roll? I cant see it clear in the pics but what I do see of it looks awesome.

so is it welded to the bottom-edge or the brim rather than the edge-edge of the brim? I hope that question makes sense... regardless of how its done it looks great.
its kinda set underneath the brim then welded so it gives the thickest amount of metal so it will resit denting as much as possible and the flat edge at the front looks cool too.
