Sir Vitus,
Do you find that the holes through the steel tend to cut the shoelaces? If not, do you have a good deburing technique? I have debured the holes in mine rather well but my elbows are thinner spring-steel and I loose a lace every 2 practices, usually at an inconvenient time. I have been debating making flower-headed brass gromets but haven't had the time.
Thanks,
Sean

Looks great!
Is this your new stuff?
Are you wearing it to Border Raids?
Looks like none of my new armour or mail sleeves will be here in time.

I will however have spiffy new scabbards and belts for both my sword and dagger.

Don't mean to muoch on the thread but,

Sean,
I use 3/16" or 1/4" grommets for fabric in elbows and knees as i like the tied look rather than riveting the pieces, you can pop them in quick and when you tie them up their almost invisible, or use a different color for accent (I.e. brass on blued, copper on silver) got the idea after using them in cloth cuisses, figured I'd try it out on the knee I was attatching, no breaks yet :)

Too modern looking. :) but they were an early thought. I'm going to see if I can do something more authentic looking or have some custom cast.

Sean,

You could file the above grommets a bit in a flower shape. It would be easy enough. But to be fair, 0,5 mm brass sheet is easy enough to shape into a similar grommet.

Cheers,

I roll some 400 grit emery cloth long enough that a tight roll just fits through the hole, Then chuck that into the drill, I rarely loose a tie. I also use better ties than shoelaces. Next time you see a prtetty girl with a lucette sit down and discuss comissions :D

Your new gear looked great.

I need to take some pictures of my sword scabbard and post them for you.
I also need to make a new dagger since I gave away my sweet bollock dagger.
