Not armor but...

Post by Nathan Hartman »

Greetings! My lady is being elevated to the order of the pelican at our summer coronet in July and she is working on her garb for the event. She is a bit overwhelmed with life at the moment and she's asked me to work on the belt she will use. She wants something very similar to the belt in the image I'm attaching (except in black with silver fittings). Nothing there is difficult except for the belt ends in the front where the chain hooks on to. Does anyone know where I could find hooked belt ends (for lack of a better term) for the project?

Thanks very much in advance for your assistance.

That is exactly what I was looking for. If I could find someone domestically who could make those exact belt hooks in silver I would be a very happy man indeed.

I could replicate that, in silver. Feel like bribing me into spending hours...

cutting plate silver with a jewelers saw, making a couple stamp chisels for the decoration, turning, cutting & filing a few rivets, headspinning some silver wire into rivets, cutting copper roves, snipping then dopping the spacers, turning & soldering jump rings from wire, creasing then shaping the hooks and soldering them to the attachment plates, pickling & polishing?

Do you prefer the colored leather backing or would you prefer a silver backing plate and cold enamelling in a jeweltone of your choice? in fact a friend of mine just got a enamelling oven if you want real glass.....

Do you want the leather work done too? Thin veg tan center inside a pigskin tube?

Well if Billy and Charlies doesn't work and domestic extends to Canada I would heartily recommend http://www.medievalwares.com/ . His craftmanship and customer service are exceptional and he does quite a bit of custom work from what I can tell. I'm sure he has the equipment and skills to do an excellent job.

I've ordered from Billy and Charlies, no problems whatsoever. Very helpful.

FYI, if I remember correctly, that is Mac here on the Archive.
