A few fighter bits for sale

Post by Otto »

Due to circumstances, I won't be doing the SCA heavy fighting thing in the forseeable future. This leaves me with a few items to sell off (need the money)

1. dished aluminum shield blank, measures 27 inches across the face, probably about 3 inches deep or so, spun metal, very thick and solid. $40 (this is a round shield, by the way)

2. Aventail from POD, very nicely made, 16 gauge stainless, with 3/8 inner dia. rings and dagged edges $60

3. Many balder blunts, most in brand new condition (I think I have about 75) about 2 dozen of them are only usable for midrealm type golf tube arrows due to some damage to the socket where an arrow shaft would be attached (this portion is cut out when making a golf tube arrow) $1 each

4. 2 basket hilts $25 each

5. 12 guage bascinet top from Hammered Wombat, shaped, welded, and exterior welds ground down. Mild steel, goes to about ear level. $40

prices do not include shipping...

anyone interested can respond here or e-mail me at sbvast@yahoo.com

No, I'm sorry, I don't have pics of the bascinet top... it is sized for about a 24 inch head and made by Hammered Wombat (so it's good quality)... the point is at the back....

At this point, the helm top and the aventail are spoken for...

which leaves
1. dished aluminum round
2. numerous balder blunts
3. 2 basket hilts

They are just like the ones on my site

They are ambidextrous... work for right or left hand (basic stuff)

Is the shield set up for a boss or a basket? Does it include a boss/basket?

The shield is a spun aluminum blank... it's in "like new" condition... nothing has been done or added to it, no baskets or bosses included.

Otto,

What's wrong? This sell-off is uncharacteristic behavior for you. We are your friends, if there is a problem please discuss it with us so we can (virtually) give you a shoulder to cry on.

You sound a little depressed, that's all.

Thanks, very neighborly of you Aaron... No real issues really... I have big $$$ car repairs to deal with, so can't see keeping hundreds of dollars worth of toys when real life is demanding attention.

Also, at 38yrs and out of shape, I begin to wonder if I'd ever get back on the field anyway... SCA fencing is cheaper, easier, and likely fits my personality better anywho! Image

Oh, and ps... I'm NOT selling my armour MAKING toys!!! Just selling stuff that I'm not using just now anyway.

Good! That makes me feel better...and just a little scared. I'm 33 years old...if 38 years old is "too old" I have some fears... Image

Naw.

Have fun,

Oh, come on guys, I'm getting ready to turn 48. If this fat old man can do it, anyone can. Well, I've been working on the fat part, but still old. :-) I go to events and make it a matter of pride to participate in all of the battles.

Trust me, if I can do it anyone can.

Actually, the biggest issue for me is not my age or condition. It's really the monetary value of a full kit when I need the money elsewhere. Later this year, I will either fence or fight. Just can't afford it now.

Still have some blunts at $1.00 each and a couple basket hilts at $25 each.

Are these hilts big ones or regular ones?

Sebastian is a big boy so he needs big baskets.

Thanks

They're a little on the large side... bar length is 9 inches. You can just fit hockey gloves in (while installed on a sword) but it's a snug fit.
