A facsimile copy of Stothard's immortal "The Monumental Effigies of Great Britain"
This is a professional-grade facsimile reproduction of the original 1817 masterpiece. It is hard bound with a dust jacket, is professionally printed on high-quality paper, and is approximately 9x11x2 inches in size. It contains every page of the original, even down to the instructions to the printer. This is copy number one of a *very* limited run (only 16 copies) produced in 2004.
This magnificent book is *packed* with carefully-done drawings of medieval effigies from England from the 12th to the 16th century, together with extra drawings of small detail items such as jewelry, plaque belts, crowns, spurs, armor details, etc. In addition, each effigy has a written description. With 142 colored plates, it is a treasure trove for any student of the material culture of medieval England. This is your chance to own an extremely rare facsimile of an even rarer book. Truly, this book is a treasure.
The book is in excellent condition, with no damage at all. It contains an ex-libris signature on the flyleaf and a signature and sentiment by the facsimile's producer.
Price: $250.00 + shipping and packaging.
(NB: What appears to be an orange splotch on the cover is actually a reflection of the light on the dust jacket, nothing more.)
