Joaquin modified his harness again and I took pics

Post by Dwarlock »

Well nce again Joaquin decided his suit of plate was not good enough, so he decided to change it. The changes are new faulds in back, and a segmented backplate. All his own work. to see the pictures i took go here

Pop rivets!?
You impugn Joaquin unjustly! look closely, and you can see those are articulation rivets, but he has placed the burrs on the outside...why he would do that is a mystery, but it is not heresy!

The third picture down from the top should read "I believe that is MISTER Joaquin to you monkey boy".

Thanks for doing that for me, Dwarlock.

Those are not pop rivets, nor are the burrs on the outside. They are actually handle rivets that I bought at True Value Hardware, and cut down to a managable size. Very sturdy. I don't know why they show up funny in the pictures...

They don't actually articulate. I talked to some people who have more experience with Italian backplates than I have, notably Tom Justus, and learned that those lames aren't supposed to move at all. It is simply a rigid backplate made of four chevron-shaped lames. Why this was done in period, I haven't the faintest clue.

although I don't have it in front of me, so I can't say for sure, I think those are just a wide head dome rivet, with some discoloration in the top of the dome fron the lack of a rivet set.

Trust me If they were pop rivits, Joaquin would not have made it back home safely.

Nice stuff you have there sir. I don't recall but did you have the full legs w/sabotons when you were up in Lincoln last? Looks neat.

Ok...quit updating your harness! I just added you to the pic pages and wham!...you update. I update your file...and wham, you change again! Image

Gallery one and three should be working except for a few images that didn't upload. You're up and running though! I had fun with your page Image!

Oh yeah, that's not your email on the page either...oops! I'll be messing with the pages tonight and get most of them up and running.

The links should work...just not the pics on the individual's page. It's not bringing up a page for whoever you clicked on? I'm getting pages, just no pics on the pages. I'll be messing with it over the next hour anyways.

I couldn't leave this thread with *gasp* thirteen replies! I am a triskadekaphobe! Image

Seriously, yes, I did make a pattern for the backplate in 20 guage before I started cutting the 16 guage steel.

Thanks, you guys, for the kind words about my harness. And thanks Krag, I've always wanted to be on the Archive Member pics page. A dream of mine has now been realized. *sniff....* Image

The arm harness actually consists of an Eagle's Talon couter with a DarkHeart vambrace and rerebrace. The vambraces close with a pin-and-hole arrangement that it kinda neat. I added a strap to make sure they stay closed (occasionally, when I took a hit there, it would pop open).
