B2 shear question

Post by losthelm »

What is the bolt size/thread to attach the pipe handle on a B2A shear?
Looks like a corse thread 5/16"...

On a side note if something is listed as "local pickup" ask about shipping anyway...

Any other maintenance issues or adjustment tips on something that's been siting for a few years. Pulled from a "retired" blacksmith shop in the north west.
Layer of grime and red surface rust should clean right off with a rag and some elbow grease.

The gear teeth can have some wear on them that makes them a bit sloppy in their action. The B1 I have was a production shear for Blau and Mandrake for years... and it shows. Still cuts like a champ though! If the price is right- get it!

I hope you find the correct replacement bolt size.
Yes... it appears to be a little larger that a 1/4-20.
The 5/16" coerce thread is a good guess.

I am not going to take my Beverly apart and pitch thread gauge the diameter of a retaining bolt to check.

Some times... one must do things on their own.
Best of luck with your quest and god bless you for getting a Beverly.

At this point its going to the local ace hardware and seeing if a stock item will fit.

If its anything like the roper whitney I may have to order in parts, or just be careful not to drop the handle on my head.
