Looking for information on this style of stirrup

Vesey Norman's "A&A, Pleasures and Treasures" (p 72)shows a boot-stirrup of a similar (if fancier) construction from the late 16th C. His example is by Pomeo della Chiesa of Milan (active 1570-1600).

I usually see cast brass stirrups of this form described as "Spanish - Colonial 17th-18th century", and see them associated with Central and South America.

One thing I am fairly sure of is they are not a Medieval form, from the Medival Spanish and Italian stirrups I have seen.

Yes, I should have said form, rather than construction. The one I listed was formed from sheet and etched, rather than cast construction.
