Hi all,
Valerius picked up 2 of the catalogs of the Treasures at Chartres in France. I am currently translating the information they have on the Royal Armour they have there including these:
<table cellpadding=2 cellspacing=2 border=0><caption><strong>The armor of Charles VI, Daphalin of France (c1400)</strong></caption><td width=98 align=center><font size="-1">Charles' Coat Armor (34k)</font></td><td width=88 align=center><font size="-1">Charles' Bascinet (22k)</font></td><td width=44 align=center><font size="-1">Charles' Arm Harness (53k)</font></td><td width=36 align=center><font size="-1">Charles' Leg Harness. (112k)</font></td><td width=174 align=center><font size="-1">Charles' Sabatons (63k)</font></td></tr><tr><td></td><td></td><td></td><td></td><td></td></tr><tr></table>

The sabatons are interesting in that they look like they have an atached bottom plate under the pointy tip - the attachments look similar to whatever-it-is they have going between the pointy tip and the first lame. Are there other pictures that show what exactly is being used to attach the non-articulated pieces, and how they're being attached?

I am not convinced that there would be a bottom plate. Rather, decoration along the bottom and top of the toe.

There is NO bottom plate. The gilt edging is what you are seeing. This edging was once all over the armour and was stripped at the time of the French Revolution.
