Hi everyone,
I started work on a longsax today, and I want a bit of dimensional advice.
What are the measurements of the largest/longest surviving saxs?
While this is more to complete an early Middle Earth impression, I would like a bit of background on the actual pieces.
For any help, thank you.

As far as I recall, the ice big langsax found in the Thames is 81.1cm long. Here's a picture of it . . .

Pleased to be able to help. The full website is at http://www.danetre-vikings.org.uk/Finds.htm - it has a wealth of really nice stuff, not only weapons.

That's just a "little one". I'll email you some pics tomorrow night. There a lot of them just as long, and longer, as typical double edged Viking/Migration era swords.
I'm making one right now with a 30" blade made with a patternwelded spine and 1095 edge. It should be done by Gulf War.
