just a couple of great helm questions.

Post by Thomas H »

i am planning on reproducing the great helm from the royal armouries. you know the one in the entrance. i was wondering how many rivets there are on the top row of the helm? and how many there are on the bottom row of the helm? and last but not least. how wide and deep are the eye slots from centre of the helm to the side? i enquired at the royal armouries but they seem to have shyed away since i mentioned i was going to sell my repro.

You're very lucky. You live relatively close to a museum that has actual armour. I live in the states, and there aren't any armour museums for hundreds of miles from where I am!
Oh Yeah! Check it out...

well i went today and realised that the helm is not in the entrance it's at the back of the armourers workshop. how annoyed am I. looks like i'll have to try and arrange a visit with the armourer and ask him for hints and stake shapes.
