simple Italian legs(pic)

Post by David Hagler »

Here are my simple version Italian legs. Wrap plates are leather articulated. Kind of an English style with 3 lames and demi-greave.
These are roughed out and bolted together and are not finished yet. However, they are shiney like this.
Sorry for the bad pic. My dig camera leaves something to be desired. Or it could be my lack of photographic skills.

David,

Nice legs. Nice line. The photo looks just fine. How do you get the photo to post in the body of your message? I don't have a web site to which to link folks.

You need to get your pics online somewhere before you can link to them. There's no way around that one. There are free places and most ISP's provide some kind of web space with your account.

David,
are the knee plates 18g as well?
I ask not as a safety issue, but because I have had difficulty getting the 18g to take an even dish. Dishing one side seems to pop the other side back in.
Is the center ridge a weld or an internal crease?
Thank you,
Idëval

The knees are 18 as well. They are dished and stretched while hot. That could make a difference.
The center ridge is raised.
I use 18 on most everything but helmets because it is light and just for historical purposes.

Just a thought. It's best to stretch your 18 ga. knees hot since they will get kind of thin and are prone to cracking if pushed too far.
If your going to work it cold, move up to 16 for the knees.
