Are there any Armorers in the Los Angeles Area?

Post by Yanevi »

A friend and I have done some basic armoring. General stuff like rivets, straps, and shaping of existing armor. It is something that I do find enjoyable and was wondering if there are any armorers in the Los Angeles or Southern California area that are willing to do some teaching?

Or maybe someone has some tips on how to get started. I have all the basic tools (anvil, hammers, cutters, and a dishing stump). I do not have a heat source or welder yet.

So Ugo.. Is this an open invitation for people to come by and see your shop?

If anything I'd just love to see your work up close and personal. Hell I'll even bring the beer! :)

Ahh.. So I should have my wife bartend eh?

Well.. If anything I'd just like to see the shop enviornment. Most of what I do is very simple stuff (coat of plates, lorica, shield boss, and minor repair. However I love working with my hands.) so it would be interesting to for me to see how you do most of your stuff, maybe learn a thing or two while I'm at it.

Plus Oxnard isn't too far from Simi Valley where I live. I even normally head out to Oxnard on sundays for fighter practice.

Ugasmo, My man, so you are setting up in 'Snard? I find my way down there once and awhile. If you ever returned my messages, we could make doubtful plans about getting together. Seriously, send me some love and I will send some in return.

Quite a few of the guys there are just starting out, but there are a few veterens there along with a knight that comes down to teach every once in a while. I just started going there recently as I'm finding it harder at the moment to get down to my group's practice in San Diego.

Practice is Sundays from 12-4 at Via Marina Park in Oxnard.
Directions can be found here http://www.darachshire.org/fighting.cfm

Look foreward to seeing you there. They have been telling me the more the merrier.

Oh, also they will not be there this weekend as they are travelling to a practice in Torrance.

Ugo, you, me, and MJ Ramey will have to get together. MJ lives in Oxnard, and I'm just down the way in Port Hueneme.
