Bri was cool enough to send me the Marshal's Handbook, and I just wanted to ask a couple of questions to the Meridian fighters here. Any and all help is greatly appreciated
e. Footwear must be worn. Tennis shoes of colors other than brown or black, or any other glaringly non-period appearing shoes are not allowed, unless they are covered to appear period. Soft-soled moccasin boots are discouraged but permitted. Heavy leather boots are recommended.
I know this has been changed to the no cleats/no sneakers thing, but what do you guys actually wear? Could I get away with putting heavy, doc martin style of tread on a pair of turn shoes or something similar?
6. A shield is not to be used as a weapon. A shield can be used, however, to move or immobilize an opponent's shield or weapon, to move an opponent, or to resist an opponent's motion, providing only shield-to-shield or shield-to-weapon contact is made.
So if I'm fighting glaive, can I put my shoulder into a S/S guy's shield? I know he can't pop me with it, but a common thing to do here is set your shoulder into the shield and pivot around it, then whack the guy in the back of the head with your glaive - is that type of contact not allowed?
1. When two melee lines engage, any combatant in one line within the range of an opponent in the other line is considered engaged and may be struck.
2. An opponent (single fighter) in a melee, who is unaware of one's presence, may not be struck (except in the case of VI.B.1. above).
Has this changed? I was yelled at by a marshall at Fool's War for hitting a guy in the back of the head who had charged our line, then turned 45 degrees away from me to try and kill my buddy. I didn't run up behind him or anything, just reppelled the charge and threw a back cut to the back of his head. Anyone know?
Thanks!
