how are you going to "abuse" it?
It makes a difference as to what type of sword you need?

(on Pennsic) I know that movie. It is the 13th warrior. A bunch of guys in armour that doesn't match itself or anybody elses, go on a trip and argue and get drunk and get laid and then fight Tuchux.

And do you want a period looking piece, (if so, what period?) or one that can just take a lot of abuse?

You get what you pay for....cheap price = cheap swords. All swords can break no matter what the price. Best thing you can do is name what you are willing to spend and tell what you plan to do with it and we might have some suggestions. If you are looking for something to do blade to blade contact with expect to pay AT THE LEAST $200. Even then I'd be very , very cautious. In my experience its better to save a little bit more and get something you are pleased with and will last. My .02

Starfire has nice, solid stuff for slightly less than $200 a blade.

I'm lookin for a plain bastard sword, has to be sturdy enough to last me a while in rein's, also must be sturdy enough to beat the freaking crap out of my little sisters boyfriend, I can pay no more than $500

Don't know what you mean by rein's but for the rest of it, you don't sound mature enough so go to the local dollar store and get a plastic one you won't hurt yourself with.

Perhaps a pool noodle! ;) If your price is $500 you have alot of good options. Check out ATrims (im scared as I write this as they are great cutters- would do more "slicing the crap.." as opposed to "beating the crap..." Del Tins, Armour Class, Lutel, Albion. You could get an MRL or a Hanwei- that way when you beat him it'll probably break over his sweatshirt or something. :D

I'll give you solid but starfires are heavy and not pretty. With it's weight problem it's more of a crowbar shaped like a sword thatn a real sword.
