Terrible... I can not find any matching horn to complete the panels.

This where I left it last year.
Warning: A very large file "pic"

As you can see not much has been done since then.
I have not cast the hog either.

Good thing no one ordered this, or I would be shitting bricks.

Hal:

I don't think the replica of the Benty Grange helmet (in the British Museum) had matching colored horn, either. Perhaps you're looking for horn with matching thickness??

Don't give up on it man. I think it's going to RAWK once it's done. I'm still interested in acquirin' it once it's done but I'm willin' to wait until you work out all the bugs.

Hal,
What kind of horn are you needing? I have a bag full of cattle horn of all colors and sizes (20+/- horns).

After looking at the pics...I don't know if I have anything quite that big. I guess it would depend on how much the horn can be hot formed.

Thanks Krag,

I am searching for Texas longhorns, the light blond ones.
I need un-finished with the rough texture.

My supply dried up and I haven't found any yet.

I think it is going to look great. Just to be fair to all the other drooling people you should auction it off. I know that I would bid once or twice or probally untill I ran out of money. :D

Hugo you basterd,

Thanks for the link.

Their horns do not match my longhorns.
Their singles are 2's and 3's in quantity.
Getting the same look all around will be a problem.

I will try another source.
We have a "longhorn Bar and Grill" in town.
They only serve beer and longhorn burgers.
I will ask where they kill the bulls.

For crying out loud...this is Texas!
Their are Longhorns all over the friggen place....

Hal

Ps: Rustling is a hanging offence in Texas, so don't none of you wise guys
go suggesting I just pop one, and use a chain saw...

Hummmm...."Texas Chain Saw Cattle Massacre"

Has a certain ring to it. No?

Now... if they were mad cows, I could claim self defense.

"Honest Your Honor... That son-of-a-bitch was coming right at me".

That would work....I could throw in "Yep, and he needed a good killing to,
everybody knows that".

Hi MacTavish,

I promised Edward atte flynt first dubs on this one. If he refuses the offer, then I could run an auction on the classifieds. Only this auction would start at his quoted price.

BTW how is your "Viking Spangen" doing? I never got to see a pic with you wearing it.

edward atte flynt,

Start saving your money....

Look up Butchers in the area, usually there are several that kill cows on a smaller level than commercial, you might be able to find some that way.

Some farms kill their own stock and sell direct to the public. Perhaps try:

Wish there was something like that hide and fur site localish to me (same country at least).

Shipping would make it not very cost effective and then I'm not sure on what the go is exactly with customs/quarantine, shiping dead animal bits.

It that the wax that you are planning on actually casting the pig from?

I think they are in this country, according to their telephone and zip numbers.

I know just what you mean... My wife looked over my shoulder at the monitor and saw pheasant pelts and cougar skulls. She was appalled...
BOTOH....A cougar skull would make a very powerful spirit stick. No?

Yes, that is the wax carving. I wanted to cast it in some sort of metal. Lost wax investment and all that... you know ol' chap...

Cheers

The Hide and Fur site is Moscow Hide and Fur - Moscow, Idaho. It is on the border of WA and ID - also happens to be about 20 minutes from Seyc.

I thought it was odd that it had Moscow in the name since the site seemed quite obviously US based, not that it particualarly matters.

Either way it is still not particularly close by, and there is those nasty customs people and the shipping to deal with.

That depends, if they were just hunting them for momentos then I agree! But it would be a great waste not to sell the bones, skins and bits you can't eat or use yourself. Personally I'll eat just about any dead animal meat or soft parts, except maybe brain of late and I really don't like the taste of tripe.
