the roling the edge on the sallet was a bitch, and the raising of the eyes on the pig was sorta fun to.

That explains why the pig-faced visor looked so odd. Those holes are about an inch across scale. ;)

Very nice, AB. I don't think I could even start making something like that. Did you use a jewler's saw for the fluting on the sallet?

Note: Misspell sallet and get salet. Misspell salet and you get slate. My fingers hate me. ;)

Keep up the good work!
It's up to you now.

No not free time, buisness possibilities, I have been working on patterning the smaller patterns for some time and plan on doing over 100 different types maybe 10 each year. I also plan on the full suites in full detail, this was just a practice.

A portable way of bringing your entire collection in a single suitcase. Very period too!

A miniature I've had the pleasure to see up close:
http://www.gotscha.nl/uk-miniature-armo ... aurits.htm
Made by Gotscha Lagidse, who has recently joined the archive (but hasn't been very active in posting it seems).

There's definitely a market for this kind of armour!

You could fill them with lead or steel or something and make paperweights out of them :D

Do you realy want to know what I think about that lead comment?

Me and my good friend Veni are wondering how much lead is needed for a pair of boots.

All kiding aside (bad sujestion)

If I want a paperweight I make one out of pewter.

These first helms are to help get the tools lined out and what to set up for.

Holy smokes - I can't wait to see the fingered gauntlets.

BTW - I don't suppose they'd be of a size to fit a regulation-sized Ken and/or Barbie? - see http://pages.ivillage.com/starlalover/id9.html

Paperweights aren't such a bad idea. you don't have to use lead.

It realy sounds like you would want one as a paperweight.

I can just see working several days on a detailed helm with gold trim and such (a historic duplication but in miniture). Then someone comes up and says that wold make a great paperweiht. AAAAAAAAAAAAA
I think you would want to strangle them to, if you did so much work.

Hew

The finger gauntlets will come soon enough, and that will probly be a next year thing.

I was refering to what I would feel under other situation.

I just thougt your stament was just a little tackie and decided to make a little fun of it, while trying to put you is the same boat. So you could look from the other side.

Please don't take it bad, it was just a little abrasive.

AB, we've all been there. Well, both parts of that. Say something and someone takes it as nasty, but mostly I was talking about the armor thing.

I had a 16 year old girl suggest I put lasers on my vambraces. *shudders* I know they mean it in the best way, but when people ask me if I'm in the Ren Faire or if they can use my stuff for LARP, I clam up just so I don't fly off the handle. Sometimes our buttons are a little too easy to push.

Yea, I know the Ren Faire thing is silly, especially as I go to them and few people have ever heard of the SCA, but it's just something that pushes some button.

I'm sure Thomas has been there, too. :)

Anyway, if those ever came up on the open market, I'd buy one. *does the math* Eep. Well, umm . . . Maybe not. They're great for conversation starters, though. :)

I know he didn't mean it in a bad way, I tend to laugh at this stuff so I tried to turn it into a humorus lesson in tack. Well maybe I goofed to. Heck I'm an Old farts, and I talk from an earlier time and a differnt place,
that sometime goes into mis translation sometimes from generation to generation. I'll give you a clue I am as old as Hawaii is a state.

Bah, I feel more at home with you guys than my generation.

As far as tact goes, it's something a lot of people are sorely missing. Alas, it appears I missed the days of polite society.

However, as far as object lessons go, you have no idea how much I agree with you. :)

I have thought of that before, but let me get my 1/4 scale up and running before I do a new size.

I'm all for having fun, but a GI Joe suit would be quite expensive. Shop rate is still shop rate.

But if you find someone who wants to pay for it, I want pictures! :)

Everyone wants something odd, so it might make it.

I once did a suit of small mail for a Ken doll, I also built a small helm with the wincesloss brow and etched it, I did this 13 years ago and use to have fun saying that Crusader Ken had a date with Barbarian Barbi

<IMG src="http://creationtime.com/fun02.jpg">

I have always been Interested in minitures.

AND yes I would do one at shop rate, what armourer wouldn't and we would have alot of fun doing it. But it would be alot funner when you have all the needed tool set up done and you wouldn't get ripped for taking to long and charging them to much money ( in there eyes ).

Good buisness since, dont start a production untill you are ready.

AB, seriously, you're quickly becoming one of my heroes. :)

That's really neat. I'm really, really impressed. I'm having trouble with a full scale helm.

Just plain wow.

I think every one shood own a helmet that size. You never know when you might run into a head shrinking witch doctor right befour you fight in a crown list :) . On a serious note I have actually been on the lookout for a quality miniture helm for my armour collection. Seen a couple of original ones cast in bronze that looked cool.

JPS
It is funny how many times that has been brought up. But I would have to go to 8th scale instead of 1/4, and then it might work but I truely don't want to get into that.
