I have recieved shipping confirmation on 1/2 the hauberks YAY!!
They are "rushing" to finish up the remainder of the order. So hopefully those people that dont recieve they're shirts on this shipment can wait just a little bit longer. They are coming!!
I have not recieved any info on those back-ordered sheaths. I will ask again tomorrow and reply as soon as I get word.
The Indians have assured me that it is the top half
I have not recieved notice on which exact hauberks are in this shipment only the amount involved. I will know for certain this upcoming Monday or Tuesday(as I will have them in my hands).
I sincerely hope that it is here in October as I would also like to get my harnesses. I will do my best to pin them down on the shipment date of the the remainder of the order and keep everyone posted.
I am picking up the shipment today in Nashville. Since some time has passed since everyone made their order please resubmit to me your shipping addresses and the size ordered. Thanks.
Is mine in there?!? Please say yes! you already know which one it is, its the only one like it in the order.... Let me know one way or the other when you know John
O.k. I just now got in from Nashville (for the 3rd time) - it has been nothing but delays - the wrong paperwork, the shipment was lost and couldnt be tracked etc, etc. Customs was a bitch this time, and on and on.
But the first half of the shipment is in my hands now.
I will give details on it tomorrow - as I have had it for this day. I havent checked your sizes yet but I know muttman's is in there (it is the only one that short).
The second half is scheduled to ship the 29th of this month. I'll post more tomorrow.
I can't post whose shirts are in right now. I will have to use e.mail because some people didn't include their Archive names when they ordered and some people's e.mail addresses they did use dont match the ones on the Archive profile(I don't want to get any one confused). But after I e.mail those people they can then post if they wish.
Praises:
The rings are a nice tight 5/16 id. using 17 gauge wire. All the rivets are very well set. I gave one of the hauberks an inspection and found only one rivet that was badly done. I am extremely picky on the rivets but was very impressed by the craftsmanship on these. This is somewhat amazing for Indian mail.
There were no mistakes in the weave on the hauberk. It was perfectly done.
The hauberks are lighter than I expected - averaging about 28 pounds.
All in all the quality of the hauberks are near perfect. The very best I have seen from India.
Gripes:
THEY ARE NOT FLATTENED AS INSTRUCTED. They are flattened at the rivet points only. I do not know why they did not follow my orders on this. If the hauberks were not constructed as well as they were I would have exploded on the spot.
They are all galvanized steel - not that this is a great big deal but I was hoping for blackened, and asked them to use blackened if it was no more trouble.
They did not add the bronze trim. Why? I have not found out yet. Its a mystery. I have not given them my critique as of yet -I am going to wait for everyones reaction before I send it. Please let me know your thoughts on this.
little gripe:
The neck holes are a little bit larger than I personally like, but I guess this is subjective.
If you have not sent your shirt measurement to me please do so asap - I am short a couple of peoples measurements.

Galvi!?! Get the dip! (no problem) Sad about the non=flattened rings but glad to here they're so well made and that the weight is quite a bit less than expected.
Shirt measurements?? Not sure what you mean on this one... Mine should be pretty easy to spot, whether it comes in this batch or the next, as it's the only shirt and coif from 18 ga.
I tried using vinegar+baking soda in series to remove galvanization on a butted coif this week, with only marginal results. Any suggestions on said dip?
Mail I've seen and handled in Hungary, both 15th and 16th century, was not flattened, so no problems here.... tnx.
Muratic acid in the form of swimming pool cleaner should work. I'd test the strength of the solution before dumping in 17 guage though. I intend to use vinegar and repeat as needed, rather than risk eating through that thin of wire.

Sorry to hear about your experience. I was only able to get my supplier to make fully flattened maille after I carefully explained the steps to them and sent them tools.
I have 5 more shirts due in tommorrow (one is possibly spoken for). Not as small a ring size as yours, being 3/8" ID, but they are fully flattened 18GA wire, european riveted, and weigh in at a mere 18 pounds.
