Finger gaunts in da mail! (image heavy)

Post by Joe Skeesick »

You know its just got to be a good day when you get finger gaunts in the mail. These fine pieces are made by our own Sasuke and were featured on the archive a few weeks ago, but not on MY hands, and not from quite so many angles.

They are stainless (Sasuke will have to tell you the gauge) since I have discovered just how little time I have to play this game at all, much less maintain my gear.

I have watched Sasuke's work ever since the first b/w pics of his street sign armour hit the archive and have been impressed with his continued improvement and these are no exception to that. What impresses me the most is how well he works with the customer. He just honestly wants you to be happy with what you get. If you need gear, make sure Sasuke is on your short list.

Here be da pics...

The last ones show the finger bucklers he made. Notice closely the brace that comes out from the buckler. It makes contact with the stick on both sides of the fingers... taking the power of the blow to the stick, not the fingers. Nifty little addition there.

Man those look so cool I want to do them.

You know, Sasuke, I think good gauntlets, especially finger gauntlets, are like the riveted maille of plate armour. It's few and far between the craftsmen that make them at all, let alone the ones that make them into works of art.

Great work!

Steve

Agreed. To me, my hands are the second most important part of my body and finding good protection for them is very important. These are very nice gauntlets!

Yep they are nice... you'll have to check out the full kit once it's done. It will be nice...

Now if I can just figure out how to get one of those rivited shirts out of Steve to go underneath I'd be "happnin".... Image

You'll have to ask Sasuke on the pricing. What ever he says though will be less than they are worth Image

Whaddaya mean check out the full kit when it's done? What happened to Janos the Nomad we used to know and love?
And didn't you already have a maille shirt? Or was it butted?

(Nice work, Sasuke).

The first being his MAGIC TOENAIL.

Beautiful work Sasuke.

Janos, can you let us know how the finger bucklers work? I am particularly curious to know if there is less of a pry bar effect on the weapon in your hands at the extreme ranges of motion.

Will do Thaddeus.

Ah D, thanks for caring. Image The nomad is alive and well. But armour kits are like Lay's potato chips, ya can't have just one. Image And yes, my shirt is butted. I'd love to get one of your's or Steve's shirts instead.

Oh, I've got months before I can purchase one anyway and yes I will be needing another aventail (now if I can just find a good bascinet as well ... agin, when I have money).
