West Crown

Post by Dmitriy »

We don't usually know who is entering the lists until 10 am the morning of Crown, but -- anyone want to hazard a guess? :-)

Of the big contenders I know of, Duke Alden and Jarl Thorfinn are planning on fighting. Any other names folks want to throw out there?

Radnor -- out. Injured.
Uther -- out. Injured.
Fabian -- probably out. Kid on the way.

How about Brand? or Paul?

*snicker* Good one Gethin... Yeah My Grandpa is King right now..

I personally think Brand is a huge contender this time around. Thorfinn has been training pretty hard.

I would put my money on those two for Finals.

What is Duke Connor up to these days?

I am not sure if Brand is fighting yet, but he is always a contender if he's in the list.

Alden is using a larger shield than we are used to seeing, which might give him an advantage -- but then, last month Thorfinn beat him in Crapaud finals with the same set-up they are likely to use at Crown. Without seeing the invocation list, the two are my best bet for the finals.

What happens if Daniel Drake comes out?

Don't forget the perenial outside shot, Jarl Rolf the Relentless. Rumor has it that Duke Conor *is* interested. Brand is a good chance and Daniel drake has been practicing up.

All in all this one couldd be fun

Funny! But hey, what do you expect? How can we outsiders keep up? :) How many times is this for Jade?

This is Jade's 13th reign.

Conor being interested would change things, he has a tendency to win.
If he is in, I'd say it's Thorfinn and Conor in the finals, Alden (and Brand if he enters) in the semis.

Well, I was wrong.

The top 4 were Sir Brand, Duke Alden, Jarl Thorfinn, and Sir Kjartan from An Tir (how the heck was I supposed to predict *that*? ;)).
In the quarter-finals, Brand defeated Thorfinn, taking him out of the lists, and Kjartan defeated Duke Alden, giving him his first loss.
Alden got the bye in the semi-final round, and Brand beat Kjartan to advance to the finals.

In the best two out of three, Duke Alden, fighting for Constantina von Ravenna, was victorious in the Crown Lists of the Kingdom of the West.

C'mon I could have predicted it...

What an amazing crown finals that was... Holy moly...

Well I was half right.

For those who missed it, I believe it was recorded on video by a few sources. I need to get copies of it. Truly some of the most amazing fighting I have seen in a while. Sir Brand is by far one of the greatest glave fighters in the known world, and it was clearly apparent in this finals match, not to mention his matches during the rest of crown. HRH Alden was a lion on the field all day.

And who could forget Air Kjartan. That guy spends half the time in the air, and half the time totally hidden behind his shield. Super amazing fighter. I got to fight him last crown, and was saddened that I was not able to get any sets with him this crown. But semi-finals tends to take the best out of most fighters.

It was a really good list. I know I enjoyed my fights and the rest of the list looked good.
