SCA great sword length question. midrealm

Post by Conrad the Mad »

Ok I want to make a great sword. according to the handbook society says it can be up to 7 1/2 feet.
Midrealm guidlines say 3-6 feet.
I thought we went to society rules about a year back or so.
So which is it?? 7/12 feet or 6 feet??

thanks ya'll

The SCA handbook says 7 1/2' max length. The Midrealm says 6' max length. As I understand it, a Kingdom can put more (or more restrictive) rules on armour and weaponry that the SCA has, but not take any away (or make them less restictive/protective).

Therefore, I would say you're safest with a 6' max length great sword. But you can always write Palymar to make certain.
