ropping

I have watched the vallentine video and i have a strong desire of roping my pieces of armour. I am in search of the tools to do nice roping. I am guessing it is somekind of half cressent chisel.

Can anyone give me information on doing nice roping?

Get some chisels, and some files and get with it.

A drimel with a abrasive blade works good to to cut out the tool.

If you have access to TOMAR there's a nifty roping stake in there. Take a piece of drill rod the same diameter as your roll, using a dremel or whatever tools you have that will do the job, carve the drill rod to look roped. Then harden and temper it. Then heat up a chunk of tool steel and hammer the rod into it (sideways), then harden and temper the chunk of tool steel, turn it into a stake by adding a shank, then do your rolls and just tap them into the groove, a little clean up and you're done. At least, that's what I've been told and read. I'm still carving my piece of drill rod right now. It sounds really labor intensive to start with (making jigs and swedges usually is) but a real time saver in the future.
