Any armour on display in Ottawa?

Post by Hew »

My wife and I are going to be in Ottawa next weekend, and I was wondering if there were any displays of armour, or even any kind of medieval-ish collections in the city?
The web site for the War Museum says it's closed for renos until May. The site map for the Museum of Civilization has a section tantalizingly called "The Armoured Warrior", but it's about tanks.

They are actually building a brand new war museum beside the Ottawa River, its quite immpressive- try to drive by it and take a look. The old war museum had a couple of 16th C helmets on display, but thats it. I used to volunteer at the Museum of Civilization, and they didnt have anything armour related on permanent exhibition (a couple travelling ones had stuff but are gone). I have never heard of any collections in Ottawa (Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto's got some stuff though).

Ah well, thanks anyway.
Maybe we'll look for some wild nightclubs.

BTW - We're going to Ottawa so so that Her Excellency Adrienne Clarkson can pin one of these on my wife:

I second those congratulations! :D
You'll like Rideau Hall- some cool architecture. 175 rooms covering 9500 square meters. The gardens are quite large too.
