does this dress make me look fat?

Here's some stuff I was working on a few months ago and got a lot of helpful advice from here, so I thought I'd finally share some pictures... so far I've only been able to get a couple good pics, and these are them. please forget that you see the atlatl and giant arrows in my hand

just had them with me for an atlatl demonstration.

I want to get more pictures, before there's too much snow outside, becuase with what I'm wearing in these pics you don't see much of my hosen or doublet that are under the jacket sort of thing. I started to write some stuff about what I'm wearing but some enexpected company showed up... I was going for german, but from artwork I've looked at, the jacket looks more tudor because of the type of sleeves.

lets see... I made all the clothing except for the shoes and sword belt. shoes are birkenstocks, the brown sword belt was made by a friend, crossbow by Master Iolo of New World Arbalist, grosmesser and knife by Master Gregory of Popinjay's.

I'm looking forward to having time to work on more stuff like this. any comments or critique for what is in the pics I have now would be very welcome

Seriously, that's AWESOME and I applaud you for going the extra mile. Not too many people do the full on german (probably because it's a little jarring to the modern eye) but it seems to be catching on somewhat. Which is verrah verrah cool. Makes me want to eat bratwurst and punch someone.

wow, thanks everyone.. I was expecting at least a couple comments about my hats brim beeing too floppy, or that the skirting didn't look full enough.. just a few things that I think need improvement; and I want to get a better quiver, that one is just a basket I found at a folk festival because it looked to be just about the right size and shape.. but the ostrich feathers were freshly plucked and dyed by me...

aside from wanting to have better garb than I had before, this was also sort of an expiriment, hoping to sort of 'raise the bar' of authenticity, or inspire them to think they can do better than they do... I started this with no background in making clothing and pretty much figured it out on my own. learned to use a sewing machine, and all the patterns I drafted on my own from looking at period artwork and a few color plates in osprey's landsknecht books... I would have tried making the crossbow and other weapons as well, but had too many projects going as it was.

now I just need to get back to work on more stuff... would be nice to have at least an extra shirt and extra pair of brais, and some more hose.

yes, I think I'll be at birka this year, may be sharing a merchant space with one of Popinjay's other apprentices, though I have no idea yet what we'll be selling.. smallish blacksmithing stuff most likely

Damn nice work. People often take short cuts and look cheesy but that is a nice outfit cheese withheld.
