Looking for pictures of as many helms as possible.
My lady is considering fighting (SCA), so I am trying to gather information for her. I have shown her the Greathelms, Basinets, Spagens and the Vendel helms. So far, she likes Valsgärde 5 and the Ulltuna Helm.
Although she appreciates the work and likes the look of many kits in the 15th and 16th centuries, she would not wear one. I am looking for anything in the post Roman to pre-15th century range. Preferably with historical accuracy (though I know certain leniencies must be given for some helms.)
ANY assistance with finding some other helms types would be most appreciated.
Thanks!

Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but we rather have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit. -Aristotle

There are a handful of earlier helms in the Waffensammlung, Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna.

Here are some different ones... later period than what you are looking at, though:

Hey Wulfe!
If she decides on a Valsgarde helm, I would love to see some construction details. It's the one type of helm my brother wants to fight with too.

Some of the meager stuff I have uncovered during late nights when I SHOULD be doing homework.
Hope it helps!

Of course, you could go with the Italo-Norman look, circa 1160...
The helm is based off a wall painting in an Italo-Norman church, entitled "The Murder of Thomas Becket", and depicts the knights who killed Becket wearing both this style of helmet, as well as a rounded topped version.
It was built by Master Waldryk, and is currently owned by Tarquin Bjornsen. You could have Cet from Vulcan's Forge make you a stainless helm bowl in advance, and build the rest of the helm up from there. With a light maille drape in back, and slats included, it'd be a very serviceable helm.
