Krag's essay is great. I just made some elbows and knees. My pattern was very similar to Krag's (his look much, much better though).

Once again, I will say, these elbows/knees rock!! They point to gambesons and cuisses easily, protect well, and his essay make them easy to make. I still owe Krag a brew -- before he put them up on site he snail mailed me patterns and instructions for these knees. I often get complements on the "period-ness" of my kit, and those knees have been with me since the(almost) beginning - thanks to him, I didn't have to use the hidden plastic crap but for a few weeks.

Sitting here thinking...a set of these made from 20 ga 4130 steel and heat treated properly would make for some light and strong armour! I have some 18 ga 1095, I might just have to make a pair from. Thin enough to do a little repousse work on maybe!?
I'll quit thinking out loud now. Did I mention I saw a dead horse with rigormortis set in yesterday
. Had to be one of the most funny things I have ever seen. Sorry, the Monty Python comment got me thinking of odd stuff!
