Mantova Tassets and Churburg ( Pics )

Post by LordWulf »

Had a commission for a Churburg and she also wanted some tassets to go with it, after looking at over 30 different styles and patterns, we settled on these simple ones.

And here's my replication of them in polished aluminum. I have to go pick up the buckles in the morning. I didn't roll the inner edge all the way for fear of cracking the aluminum, but I got a nice smooth quarter roll on them...... the edges really are smooth but for some reason they look rough in the pic.......they're backed with black suede and the straps in the picture are for attaching them to a belt.

It would be a sin to use those tassets with that breastplate.

And its people view their Sires in the light of fools and liars,
'Tis a sign of its decline and its glories cannot last."

I know this, you know this......... but the customer knows this as well and wants them..... LOL

I've made the tassets so that they can be worn on a belt which means that once the kid realizes the tassets are redundant with his leg armour, he can remove them........ that was the primary reason I didn't add them directly to the rig itself......

Still, laid out it does look "alright" :?

Lol, those look good, Wulf.

One question... How much did the 'kid' actually pay for the set? It looks nice... I'll be needing to buy some SCA gear myself in a couple of months, and it being my first Harnass, and me being the Historical Figure type of guy I am, I don't want to spend much money on a suit I'm going to get the crap beat out of!

Something like that, with changes to my tastes, would be cool, in my opinion, for starting body armor.

This would fit an adult with no beer belly actually..... she's paying a bit over $100 for everything, shipping included.
