SALE!! SALE!!
I'm selling a few things.
1) Visored Sugarloaf. Made by Pathfinder. Made out of mild steel 12 ga on top, 14 on the sides, this will fit a 23" noggin with a half inch of padding very nicely. There would even be room for a bit more padding if needed. I've only had this on to check the padding, it's never been in a fight, never been kissed by rataan and the padding was not glued in. I've not installed a strap yet so you can do that and put the strap where YOU want it. VERY nice work by pathfinder and a splendidly stunning helm. I'm asking $350.00 and it's worth every penny.

2) A set of splinted legs made by Alail Horsefriend. 16 ga mild steel splints inside of blue leather. Very nice creased knees in the 14th C manner. These have seen a couple of fights, but very very light usage. Not much more than a couple of fights. I'm asking $100.00

3) A set of Andy Ward gaunts in mild steel. You know what they look like, and the quality. These will fit someone who wears a large glove size. They were made by Andy and sold by Calontir Trim. I'm asking $50.00 for them.
4) An Elna "Jean's Machine" heavy duty sewing machine. It's not a commercial machine but it will sew heavy material including up to about 4 oz leather. I'm asking $100.00 for it.
5) Deep dished, "soupcan" style elbow and knee cops from Windrose armoury made of mild steel. To see what they look like go here... http://www.windrosearmoury.com/in_stock.htm and look at his "13th C flared knees" and his "Elbows with flared edges". I'm asking $ 75.00 for the lot.
There may be more later, but that's it for now. Interested parties please contact me via email or PM.

Visored Sugerloaf helm
Hi Steve
I am lucky enough to possess a copy of the book 'Arms and Uniforms - The Age of Chivalry - Part 1' by Liliane and Fred Funcken. It's a old book and very well illustrated.
In the section on the development of the Helm it illustrates about 33 different types of Great Helm, # 22 is a Sugerloaf topped helm with a visor - simply described as French, late 13th century.
The visor is of a much more simple design though, it has no eye-slits per se, instead the gap between the top edge of the visor and the bottom edge of the helm-brow creating the eye-sight. The visor is perforated with ten 'breath' holes which run across the top half of the visor.
hope this is of some help

You also have this one in "Italian Medieval Armies, 1300-1500", Osprey Men-at-arms 136, plate A.
David Nicolle gives for sources:
"Effigies, 1300-25, Salerno & Lucera Cathedrals; frescoes, c. 1290-1300, San Gimignano; bas-relief, 1320-25, Bargello, Florence."
Marc de Lierre, Brabant.

I was mistaken about the brand on the sewing machine. It's a White Jeans Machine and you can see what it looks like and read more about it here...... http://www.whitesewing.com/4042.asp

I'm of the opinion that Neddley is running some sort of money laudering scheme involving the purchase and reselling of armour...

I PMed you about the helm. I'm interested, but I also just bought another helm from WMA and want to see if it's a good fit. If it's not, I'll still be in the market. But I won't know for sure for another week or so, so if you need to sell the helm on ebay or trade it for grits first, I'll understand
