Roman Helm Patterns?

Post by Klangiron Skullthumpa »

Hey everyone.
I have a guy asking if I could make a Roman helm for SCA use. I know that you can add a bargrill to the cheek plates but have no real idea of how to contruct a Roman style. I've looked at the Legio page and have a rough idea but was wondering if anybody had a pattern that they wouldn't mind shareing?

thanks for any input or advice..

WARNING- I do not make helms.

You could start with a basic welded skull, and add cheek plates, lower skull section, and neck guard. That's how mine was built, by Mandrake. It is intnded to "look" Roman, as oppsed to being an accurate reproduction.

When I built mine, I shaped the top, and built a pattern around it. I dont have the pattern anymore though, but once you have the top, its pretty simple to get the pattern figured out.
