Mandrake Armoury will have arming pourpoints for sale at the Estrella War. These pourpoints are made exclusively for Mandrake by Black Swan Designs and have features you won't find anywhere else:

*Adjustable for a custom fit
*Individual point closure for quick arming and disarming
*Multiple attachment points for secure leg suspension
*100% linen lining and heavy fustian outside stand up to rugged use
*Natural coloured materials won't bleed into your clothes no matter how much you sweat

Count Roderick is a very competative SCA fighter who knows exactly what works best for SCA combat. He helped perfect the design, so you can be sure it will work great.

Arming pourpoints designed by someone who knows fighting, built by someone who knows clothing.

Rod, save me one. I usually wear a medium t-shirt but they can be a bit tight....I'm lifting hard again.

Vitus, Rod is already on the road for Estrella.

We are truly grateful to Gwen for developing this great product line that she has tailored to the particular needs of the SCA martial community.

Rod intends to get in a lot of fighting this year (weather permitting....). Track him down on the field and see how that pourpoint is working for him. He even made himself a new helmet and a new scabbard.

Just for and idea on sizing - I think Rod is wearing an X-small. Giles happened to be in the shop when the first samples arrived and tried on the small. It was very fetching on him, gave him a striking hourglass figure.

Woot I'll take one Gretchen, whichever size is for a 42" chest. How much are they? My CC / address info is still unchanged.

Hey do you guys still have that Sutton Hoo?

I got one of Gwens early prototypes, and was VERY happy with it. This is a very well designed, comfy, sturdy, functional garment. I'm not sure of what improvements, if any, she might have come up with since the prototype. I'll give this product two thumbs up....Otto

Sounds exciting! Will these be the grande assiette design you were planning to offer Gwen? Or, will they have sleeves but be of a different design? Enquiring minds want to know. :)

I'm all for more properly-attired 14thc fighters on the fields of the SCA. It would be nice to one day see people taking off their jupons and then seeing their armour and a decent arming cotte on underneath, rather than a jarring t-shirt. :?

Dare I ask what the price is? Or will I need to wait til I find the booth at Estrella? Might there be any to fit an endowed lady?

I beleive these are the "vest-like" pourpoints that Gwen is offering.

These are only available through Mandrake?

Lloyd, you can get one through Mandrake as they're the only ones who will be carrying it. However, this is designed specifically to carry legs for SCA style combat, not to carry a full harness. Take heart however, as I have the 15th C. arming doublet ready to go. That's the garment designed to carry a full 15th C. harness. In fact, they'd be up on the website right now if I'd not run out of time to put them up before we left. :( As it is, they'll go up immediately on our return on the 1st.

They're way cool, and my testers have had good things to say about them. I'm as stoked about the arming coats as Rod is about the pourpoints. 8)

All,

As Gretchen stated, I did get to try on the arming pourpoints and I would like to add the following:

Starting at the top, there was enough material across the shoulder to distribute the weight nicely when the legs were added.

The armholes did not bind as they are plenty big, even when throwing a low offside or a rising offside. (you know the one where you have to bend way over to your offside and then throw a rising snap.)

The waist and back could be tightened or loosen to your own desired fit.

As for the hourglass figure..... Well, that is for you to see in person!
