I had a busy weekend!

NEW PICS AT THE BOTTOM

This weekend was my first attempt with metal working. My new tools from Halberds are amazing, thanks a ton!! My used Beverly is a champ and my stumps took a massive beating without any problems!! I haven't had this much fun on a creative project in a long time

I know everything needs LOTS of work, but i feel it was a good start. Luckily my copy of Brain Price's book is in the mail BUT the help here is been Invaluable! Thanks to the folks who created the patterns, the essays, and the great posts on the forum.

Any thoughts are welcome, i know the work is real rough- so you don't need to say that

You should start your own one-person factory made armor line!

Nicely done!

Makes my my first spaulder look like... well... poo.

Just a suggestion though- yer gonna wanna dish the spaulders, knees and elbows deeper. As to just how deep... just look at all the pics you can. It really helps to get the feel of how it should look.

Very nice work, keep it up!

And BTW Hal, your tool kit helped and is helping bundles!

Don't forget to rotate your tin/lead dish to break it in proper.

Mike and Greg- I'll be honest my arms and my wrists are not happy with me- i couldnÃ¢â‚¬â„¢t swing a hammer on Sunday.

Horradrick- Your more then right, I realized i had just bent those pieces So I went back and tried dishing them so I might have to redo them.

Halberds- Great tools once again! If you make any more stake attachments at any point PM me, I would be very interested!

Well this was weekend two- everything needs tons of work!! I scraped a few pieces, the back, the cod piece and maybe the mega huge ugly greaves.

Wow, really working with it teaches you SOOOOO much- its one thing to read it but its another to do it. So needless to say i learned many lessons this weekend.

This is a Northern Tool anvil that i did some work to. I Got rid of the China and 15lbs, sharpened up one edge, rounded the other and smoothed the face.

Where can i get a good hammer for cleaning up my flutes without marking the metal??

Great and looking good.

To hammer the flutes on the outside I ground down a small cross peen hammer like this.

The back side is used to close a roll.

haha! very nice job! how many hours did this take you? and very excellent use of duct tape, i've just discovered the magic of duct tape in armouring.

what's the gauge of the that metal - 16? 14?
and if those tools from Hal can do that - then gee, i want one!

A simple tack hammer from a homedepot works wonders for doing flutes. Someone had an excellent how to on their web site....I think it was stormthewalls.org or something similar. If anyone knows what it was please feel free to chime in, I recall he has lots of seige engines and gothic patterns on his page.

Kniggit, this is the pattern but mine isnt really as good representation, but i added a flute to the front- which i like.

Justin Livio Guidi, its 16 hot rolled and your right duct tape rules!! Hal's tools are great, totally worth getting. -edit- hours.... 5.5 days X 8-ish hours a day with lots of breaks. I think i need to tape my hammerring wrists.
