Post a picture of your original kit?

Post by Adhemar »

Ok fellas,

Periodically I see posts to show off your stuff, and some of you are getting quite impressive, to put it mildly. Here is my challenge: can you dig up pictures of your VERY FIRST KIT you ever pieced together and post them? I think it will be a whole lot of fun to see what some of our favourite armourers looked like back in the day, also I think it will serve as encouragement to those of us who are not quite at the level of some of you Armour Gods and Goddesses. I'll see if I can dig my old photos up tomorrow afternoon, after class, til then, lets see!!!

Adhemar

Well I'll start this off, with my very first kit, back from the mid 80's. A time you could still see freon can helms being used.

Nissan! That's a great blackmail image!

Many of you have come far, now it is time to see Adhemar!

It is me! before my very first war, I went before I finished making my maile into anything more than a wife beater of steel!

the picture is from a wierd angle, so the helmet in actuality does not look so bad, but the rest really does.

I thought this was supposed to be for people that dont look so great! I am just finishing up my first kit, and if you drop the pauldrons and replace the breastplate with some big things of leather, that is me (and make the helm uglier).
Westerners, we have forgotten our origins. We speak all the diverse languages of the country in turn. Indeed the man who was poor at home attains opulence here; he who had no more than a few deiners, finds himself master of a fourtune.

Wow! I even have you freon-bottel helmets beat!! I had used an old riot mask for protection with a chainmail shirt and crude scaled, shin guards.

My opponent (in red) used an old minibike helmet covered in pleather!

My first "kit" is lost in the depths of time and space. Some of it, especially the carpet body "armor" sown together with fishing line ('cause it was strong and it wouldn't rot), was intentially cast out into those depths.

My first helmet that I actually owned was stolen from me with other armor bits.

Some of the stuff became scrap metal and is probably part a car or some such other useful thing.

I have no photos.
