Want to sca and historical

Post by J. Morgan Kuberry »

I am looking for up to three used barrel helms and three sets of elbow and knee coverings. I say coverings because cops, buzabands, and greaves with built in knees are all acceptable. I need gear for up to three fighters, assuming I can make it to an event and get re-authorized before Pennsic and get these two guys authorized too. I am not looking for the best stuff here, but we don't want bargrills or spuntops or anything out of period for the 1314 era. the joints are out of period but thats ok. I need stuff that will pass inspection, not the highest end stuff. Used and rusty is fine, we'll clean it up. ALSO looking for kettle hats, norman helms and the like for our living history endeavours. Again, used and rusty is fine. My head is about 23 inches around. Don't have the other guys measurements right here. Thanks in advance.

Hi J. Morgan Kuberry,

We have not seen you around in a long time.
Sounds like you are gathering an army... No?

Best of luck on your quest.

I've been around I just haven't had the energy to post, I always feel like discussions online become longer than they need to somehow, and I'm as guilty of contributing to that as anybody. "Army" isn't quite the word Hal, but something like one. My living history guys really want to fight at this Pennsic so I'm trying to make it happen. I honestly don't think its possible, but I'll try, I owe it to my men. I just don't think we can get to an actual sca event to get anyone certified. There just aren't that many going on nearby, and War Practice is the same weekend as our "big" living history day. Truehearth can't get us anything fast enough, I already tried him awhile back. We aren't really that big on SCA which makes it really difficult, but we plan on going to Pennsic as usual, which will be interesting because we go "campaigner" style with no camp to speak of, so I don't even know how we'll handle sca harness's at the war. But it will be fun to try even if we can't fight. I don't think the fighting will be worth it anyways, but like I say, the men really want to so I'll try.

I have an older Kirby Wise Great helm that wore to several pennsics. I don't use it anymore and it's just gathering dust. I'd let it go for $90. I don't have any pics handy, but I'll take some if you're interested.
