wanted ASAP: helm top, on the cheap

Post by patric »

i need a helm top, but it kinda needs to be a special one. i have about a 24 inch head and glasses. so if it was bigger around, 27ish inches, it would be great. mild steel, 14 or 16 gauge.

the sooner i get it the better. my deadline is september 5th, but it might take me a while to assemble it, so if i had it with in a week it would be awesome.

im hopeful, but doubtful at the same time........

I'm too tired to find the link for ya now, but Rough from the Hammer (Cet here on the archive, if I remember correctly- I'M TIRED!) offers them in that price range.

If I'm off, it's because it's late and... you know the rest.

Wait.. you want a solid, non welded helm top, and you want it "on the cheap"? Are you serious?

If you read back a few posts, he gave you permission to yell at him if you like :) Seriously, I'm guessing by 'solid' he meant welded, as in not shipped in two seperate halves.

Patric- Ironmonger Armoury carries what you need for $50 in mild steel

good luck,

Hey Wil... THIS IS YELLING!

I made a statement, which was true. "Wait.. you want a solid, non welded helm top, and you want it "on the cheap"

Then I asked a question. "Are you serious?"

No yelling. And a pretty legit question. you could be right, but he DID ask about getting them welded, THEN said that gettinga solid top would be BETTER. So getting a solid top must be better than gettinga welded top, as that's all he posted prior to the "better" comment to compare. But it could just be a writing issue.

Patrick... If you're looking for a solid 1 piece constructed helm top, it would likely have to be hot-raised to form the top. This is considerably more expensive than welding 2 halves together.

The helm halves that Cet does are very good, by the way. Would get you a long way into your project.
