Wouldn't that be dehydration?

Yes, it is all for real guys and gals.

I remember seeing the first offerings a few years ago after going online in 1996. Came across a University student's website where he posted some photos from his visit to the first museum showcased here.

His photos were not the best though....These are A LOT better.

As for the others.....yummmmmmm.

Could you please link an obvious repro and tel me why do you think it is one? I would like to think this database would list only originals...

You make it sound as if the stuff in the US museums isn't authentic... Here in Europe, some museums use replica's to show people how something would have looked when it was new, For instance, a mannekin can wear a complete outfit next to the original clothing if that last item is incomplete or has changed considerably because of the time. However, the replica is then part of an explanation, not an exhibit.

The New york metropolitan has a very nice authentic book: 'Les Très Riches Heures du Duc de Berry'. At the moment it's on loan, it's in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. As part of a restoration/preservation proces it's pages are seperated so visitors can view 16 pages now!. After this exposition the book will be sewn back together iand it will return to New York.

And which helmets would those be, then?

The website isn't finished yet, by the way: you really got a lucky hit!

Ah, Vienna... takes me back to the last time I was there. There's more beautiful steel in Vienna than anywhere else on earth. There's places in that town that you can't walk a yard without tripping over a treasure. The Royal Armoury in Madrid will knock your socks off, too!
