Reviews Needed For Milan Marek www.bestarmour.com

Post by Richard Blackmoore »

Hi.

I was asked about the quality, historical accuracy and functional qualities of the armours produced by this Czech armoury, as well as their reliability. Not having personally dealt with them, I could not remember much about them. I thought I saw some good reviews regarding them, but I may be thinking of Jiri or someone else.

The person that asked me about them is generally interested in living history grade Macpherson or Gillaspie level of quality suits, but sometimes for somewhat lessor suits for use in SCA combat where he won't be too upset of they get dented or scratched.

I tried to find existing armour archive reviews by searching on the name Marek or bestarmour, but all I found was the website address that I already had.

Any info would be appreciated.

A number of our people have ordered kit from Best Armour. Although their wait times are getting longer, they make good looking kit for very fair prices. Their 15thC gauntlets are particularly good for blunt sword sparring.

One caveat. It seems the Czechs don't whack each other on the head in combat. SCAdians will find the "Best Armour" concept of sufficient space for helmet lining a bit sparse... Be very clear as to how much padding you intend to line the helmet with. We've had two people send back their helmets because they were very tightly fitted.

In all, I would give them a big thumbs up for the finish of their product, communications and delivery on schedule. 8)

Cheers!

I have armour from them, it is well made and prices decent also, sca or not they tend to run small, many Members of Wolfe Argent have gear from them, much of it is snug.
I took a great deal of caution in measuring myself for a breastplate from them, yet it still ended up fairly small, since i portray a soldier who would have been issued gear the not quite perfect fit is fine.
They are a fine place to spend your money

Hello Richard,

the guys from Bestarmour are one of top armour makers in CZ.
On the other side they do a lot of welding on their armour to reduce the cost. They are so busy that you will have to wait for a long time.
As sad before they do the stuff very tight, so the helmets are not for SCA bashing, unles you tell them to do so.

There are also other armourers I know well.
They make great stuff too, in some stages they are even better,
and they work together in one large work shop full time.
