Question on pricing an Anshelm basinet

Post by Parlan »

Hi all, I'm going to be selling a medium Anshelm basinet and am not sure what it would go for.

It's 12 or 14 guage (not sure which) mild steel with interchangeable klappvisor and bargrill. Pivot hinge at the brow for easy changing and a welded stainless aventail (Knuut's light guage).

It's used but in mint condition. New it would cost ~$1000+ (if you could get one. Luther is not producing like he used to).

What would you pay for this beauty?

A picture would super help. I'd think that you could EASILY get $500, you can likely get $800+.

May I ask why you're selling Sir Parlan? I'm hoping you're upgrading and not dropping the hobby.

The mild steel clapvisor on their site is $250 for the visor and $400 for the helm with just the grill.

So $650.00 new.

Stainless steel is closer to $1000.

I would ask half the price of the new helm price for a used helm, in stainless and a bit less in mild.

Add $200 for the hinge and $150 for the aventail = $1000

Half the price sounds about right to me. Less if it's dented or rusted or scratched.

I'm not getting out (although I am pretty much inactive). It was my ex-wife's helmet. I have a stainless one sitting in my garage that is waiting for a period liner.

You could auction it here in AA. I had a very similar helm and the final was about $725 and I have seen others here go above $600.

I'll likely do just that. It'll save me the eBay fees. I'll post it soon with pics.

Yup - I'm the one who bought Roger's helm. A good deal, as far as I was concerned - especially with the riveted aventail already attached.
