Ok, Knight's Marshall Ldy. Angelique du Soleil has OK'ed this for Baile na Scolairi. THe only question was how much shipping would be. Anything less than $100 would just need approval of the Seneschal, Baroness Julienne la Folette, and one other officer, most likely our Exchequer,
Ldy. Francesca Ambrogini. Their email addresses are on our Officers list page. I have forwarded this information to them and await their responce, but please add us to the list.
Thanks!

The shire of Loch Cairn, Meridies would be interested as well. I have approval from the seneschal, knight marshal and exchequer. We only have one active fighter right now, but we have several that are interested in trying it out and this would be a godsend.

Im gonna need a full time secretary for this.. hahaha
One thing, you guys are going to an awful lot of trouble.
All you really need is 1)permission 2) type down your kingdom and group name. No matter how much info you put Im still checking them all out and going through sca.org. It's just more work for you...
Baile Na Scalari/ middle kingdom emailed both officers
Northern Outpost/ Kingdom East emailed both officers
Loch Cairn/ Meridies emailed senechal.. you guys have a busted link when you try to email your exchequer.. No biggie to me, just forward it to her, just letting you know so you can fix it for yourself.

armor question
do you have to be part of SCA or just a fighter? The reason I ask is I myself am a rennie but also am part of a small group the does swordfighting. Just thought I'd ask. I would be interested in some armor if SCA membership is not a requirement. My email address is bmwilson85@hotmail.com Please email me or post again here. Thank you.

The SCA is a large non-profit organization. It has a federal number and can recieve tax deductable donations.
By this weekend I am going to be coming out with a line of price beater cops made with no finish from hot rolled steel 14 gauge just to make sure our new cop-making machine gets a workout. Your group might be interested in that, as I am gearing them toward the loaner gear market since i have been getting a lot of orders lately from large baronies for loaner gear who arent too particular about finish, and 14 gauge would hold up better for them anyhow. I am just guessing, but I am shooting for $10 a pair.

Thanks! Being an Email Admin, I tend to include too much info. I'd profit more from a word count than a post count.

Hahahahaa ok, I just got a couple really funny (to me anyways) emails back from groups.. Be sure you are explaining this properly to your group officers. Dont just tell them "hey we can get free armor by emailing this guy".
The first email said they could use anything as long as it was finished and ready to strap on... well... I'm sorry, but when I actually have anything like that handy it goes on my in-stock page to be sold..lol
The second one was even better (not a group listed on this post or I wouldnt say anything): They went to my website apparently and sat down together and wrote me out a shopping list which included a breastplate, some 5 lame spaulders, and some $250 stainless legs, etc, etc. Just under a $3,000 order fromt he looks of it and they spent some time making out their shopping list..lolol...Well..... probably not gonna happen...lolol
Like I said earlier, a couple times, there will be almost no finished pieces. when I have say a set of gothic elbow cops Im supposed to be making for an order, and all of a sudden halfway through dishing I get a split in the metal, i stop what Im doing, cuss loudly or softly depending on whether its stainless, then i throw it as hard as I can into a pile in the corner and go cut out another one. I dont keep going and finish the cop that to me is now worthless because it could only be used as loaner gear. every so often i collect this pile and take it to recycle. Now on top of this I have a ton of boxes of leather scraps Id like to go through, box up, run through the strap maker so you will have 1/2 inch straps, and I have some buckles that we dont use that i could send.
I decided to throw a bunch oif stuff on the floor as examples of what these packages might contain. Now if your group looks at this and says "what a bunch of junk", then this program is not for you.
If your group looks at this picture and says "Oh, we could get that helm together with a little work, and make those cops into arms or legs, and whoopie look at those buckles and strapping leather", Then you are who this program will benefit... (Granted i did pick the worst I could find to show, but I am trying to make a point. Dont expect to be recieving a finshed $250 set of stainless steel legs.. haha)

I have contacted my officers.
Greetings
I am Racheal no Ansteorra. I hail from the Shire of Gate's Edge. I have contacted the officers and are awaiting a reply from them.
I will post again once I have their permission to pass on the requested information.
Looking at the photo...my reaction was cool...we could do something with that! Our group has several armour/leather workers. We even have an active armoury guild.
Thank you for this offer.

Hey Mike are you expecting a check from the group or a check from a person in the group? Getting a check written by the SCA group can be a bit more difficult. Unless the item is part of their budget then the Finance Committee has to vote on it first.

Hey what about driving by that way sometime when Graywood is having a fighter practice and saving the entire shipping cost?!?
I mean if some jerk would not have posted a cancelation notice about the event this weekend on the website I would have been over at your place anyway

Hey Eric,
I dont know if I could take a check on some lousy FORMER Greywooder (with an E)...lolol
The main thing was checking to see if it was legit, then when I get the form back it has the seneschals and exchequer's sigs on it right next to the group name and the address it should be shipped to. Who the check for shipping is from at that point isnt relevant, cause I know its going to where the officers expect it to.
Now to tell a story on egrayfox: (cause I can lol)
Eric came over tot he shop one day (like 2 years ago i think), cause he needed some help getting his armor together... Well he walked in with the materials, and he had the god-awfullest junky looking piece of crappy leather you ever saw, and he was gonna make arms out of it. then too he had these goofy looking odds and ends buckles. Anyways i looked at that and decided i was above working with such junk, so i just found a decent piece of leather and some good buckles and we went to town for 2-3 hours until we got something working. So at the end of the night Eric is looking at what we've done and you can see in his mind hes trying to figure up a monetary value of maybe what I will need to cover the materials etc., and you can see him sweating (cause at this point hes not some Houston accountant, hes still a college kid scraping by..haha), so hes got his wallet out, sweating and figuring... and i look over at my then live-in and give a little wink at her to "watch this".. So finally he says kinda stammerring "well how much do i owe ya?".. So i look over at my live-in and ask her to get the calculator.. haha... So I start mumbling figures out and typing on this calculator, and periodically to get him involved I say stuff like "how many buckles are there?", and then I multiply all that in. "Lets see shop time: about 2.5 hours at $45 an hour"...I make sure I peck and peck and peck on this calculator enough to make any accountant nervous..
You can see the sweat rolling down at this point.. My g/f is getting the mop... The dog has moved into a dryer, less tense room where he can relax... So i finally stop pecking on this thing and look over at him trying not to bust a gut, and say "Oh give me $10 and we'll call it even".. hahahaa

Greetings
I have also spoken with our Knight Marshal -- he said the main things we need right now are:
large helm
small helm
any leather we can get
We have one set of knees and elbows already and he is planning on making the straps long so they can fit either a small or large person.
Thank you!!!

It goes to New York. I looked up the zip code once just for craps and giggles.
Oh, I'll let the Shire of Hunter's Home know. We could really use it. (I'll be the one wearing it.) Nothing like having a helm or other such slipping around on you after its been hit.

Hi,
I'm the knight marshall for the Barony of Ruantallon, East Kingdom. Mundanly Nova Scotia & PEI Canada. I'd be willing to pay shipping to here, even though it would be more than to the 48 states (but still US post). If you will consider adding us to the list, I'll get the Senechal and Exchecher on line.

Armour Donations
The Shire of Loch Ruadh, Ansteorra, is interested in your offer of damaged gear to be used as loaner armour. This arrangement has been discussed with the Knight Marshal, Seneschal, and Exchequer. All are in agreement as to the details and requirements as listed in your post.
Must the FAX number used be the same one for each transaction, or can we notify you of the # to use for each transaction? We do not have a dedicated FAX # and will have to arrange usage.
I am the current Seneschal for our group and will act as one of the contacts for the donations of armour. Our Knght Marshal will also be a contact.

Michael,
The pic of the armor looks perfect.
I figure we first do a session of "cleaning up the edges on new armor",
Then a session on "removing scale"
Then a session on "polishing or painting?" (we'll end up painting it safety orange)
Then a session on "Strapping a new piece of armor"
this rocks!
We have our monthy meeting tonight.
Our local group meets once a month at a Bavarian microbrewery in the Medieval walled city of Amberg. None of us live in Amberg, but the beer is really, really good.
I will pass this one to our seneschalle and Money guy if I can get my printer to work.

I finally got word back from the Shire, and we're interested.
From Northshield.org
Shire of Lub Siochail (West Bend WI)
Seneschal: Ellyn Jourdain de Wentworth (Mellissa Shevy)
--Street Address omitted, it's on Northshield's site, however--
Port Washington, WI 53074
ellynjourdain(at)yahoo.com - (262) 268-9942
Jerome, our exchequer, doesn't do much e-mail, but here's his e-mail address so you can contact him: jerryvdub(at)charter.net
Thanks again, Heavy seems to be the best flashy attraction to get new members, so this may help pick things up.
If you don't mind, I'd rather PM you the shipping address. I worry about home addresses floating around the net.

This is a wonderful idea and I thank you for offering it. Our webwright brought this to our attention and it's been reviewed at a council meeting.
The Barony of the Angels, in Caid would love to participate.
I am the Seneschal and the Exchequer heartily supports the idea as well.

Most Gracious Lord,
I speak for the Barony Bordermarch, hailing from the Coastal Region of Ansteorra, mundanely in the city of Beaumont, the Golden Traingle up north to Woodville. I have spoken with our Seneschal and Treasurer about your generous offer of the free armour and have received a possitive yes from both.
I know that this gift of armour would be very much appreciated since some of our members have damaged armour from hurricane Rita.
You can reach our Seneschal > Ldy. Selina of the Woods
Phone 409-745-3939
cell 409-791-1642

We would love to have you Merchant your wares at Autumn Melees this Nov. 17-20. We are expecting a very large crowd, somewhere around or above 600.
Our site host Ansteorra's only stone castle Border Keep. This year we have added new stone walls to the castle.
The site has some electricity and all have water in each camping area. There are Bath houses with restrooms and hot showers.
We are currently have somewhere around 20 Merchants reserved to attend this event. Stonekeep Armory would be very inviting to many to shop.
If you would like to reserve a space in our Merchants Village please contact our Event Steward/Merchant Coordinator > Ld. Phocas
Phone 409-658-3800
email phocas@bordermarch.org
For more details about the event please visit
