I have been working on the gothic armour from the archive patterns, but I am not sure how the folds/lames are connected to the lower placard of the breastplate. Is it by leather? I don't see rivets on any pictures. Is the first lame/fold folded into the lower part of the breastplate?
Thank you as always.
How are the folds/lames connected
It works best when there is a separate plate between the breastplate and the first lame of the fauld. But that is not necessarily proper for all time periods.
Sometimes you will find sliding rivets, sometimes you will find leather articulation.

My 10yo daughter says I'm pretty!

Gothic armour
Can be either riveted or leather straps or a combination of both. I've shown the construction of 2 gothic armours on my site with differing methods of attachment which you might find helpful.
