thickness of spangenhelm plates

Post by Archie Zietman »

hello.
I have a question about the thickness of plates used to make spangenhelms in the 13th century: about how thick on average were they? And about how thick were hte raised on piece conical helms? I know the thickness varied ovetr the helm, so: what was the average thickness for the point and top of the helms, and the edge thickness?
Thanks,
Archie

Are you making a replica, or something to hold up long term under SCA style fighting? The latter could be much thicker.
