SCA-A Bit of (SCA) Ancient History, and an interesting way t
Seen on e-Bay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1746262198
A chainmail shirt supposedly worn at Pensic 1.
The interesting thing about it's construction is the close-up photo which appears to show it made of washers >tied< together in 4-in-1 style.
Wow.

Bascot,
You really think that a thousand dollars is too high for this unique piece of SCA history?
Come on! It is a real toss up for me. Should I get this true piece of history or a nice rivetted shirt from Steve?
Hmmmmm, decisions, decisions......

Well then my eyes must suck too, because that's what I am seeing as well. It looks like a pretty damn impnentrable type of mail. Lokks as if it would be more effective against missiles than even riveted mail.
It doesn't look very flexible though.
It can't possibly flow or stretch like true chain mail, that's for sure.
There simply isn't enough of a gap in the connecting rings.

I think we should all email this guy and educate him of the fact that his chainmaille isn't authentic and he improperly used the term ringmaille. Then, we should gripe about his grammar and spelling used in the auction and tease him for wanting a thousand dollars for it.
Ooh, then someone should send the seller the URL of this thread so he can come defend himself and start a major flame war!
You can see I'm enjoying my "Tongue in Cheek Monday".

It reminds me of the chinese or was it Inuit coin armor. The coins were sewn onto the backing in a similar way.
Looks really nice though.
